Multimodal Signal Conditioning
Often, for signal conditioning or higher-level monitoring, we need to measure the output of multiple sensing elements. For example, processing the output of a typical piezoresistive bridge requires simultaneous measurements of the bridge and temperature sensor outputs. Likewise, processing the output of a thermocouple requires simultaneous measurements of the thermocouple and the output of the sensor that measures the temperature of the connector. The purpose of measuring connector temperature is to perform cold junction compensation. The processing of multiple sensing elements by the same signal conditioner is referred to as "multimodal signal conditioning".
