Some load switches are equipped with a shunt release for overload protection and tripping, that is, when overloaded, the load switch is tripped by means of relay protection without burning the fuse, and the fuse is only used for short-circuit protection. The intersection point between the action characteristics of the relay protection actuated by the shunt release and the time-current characteristics of the fuse is called "transfer current". The transfer current is an overcurrent value. The overcurrent lower than the transfer current will be disconnected by the action of the shunt release. When the current is higher than the transfer current, the fuse will act for protection. For this reason, the load switch with higher transfer current parameters can be selected, which can effectively reduce the number of fuse actions, thereby greatly reducing the number of fuse parts to be replaced, which has certain technical and economic significance. For vacuum and SF6 load switches, with relatively high transfer current value, the transfer current can be increased close to the transfer current, so as to give full play to the advantages of strong breaking capacity of such frequent load switches.
